After completion of fortnight training in space research at ISRO's U. R. Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, our young space researcher Kumari Gayatri Thakur returned Sagroli.
To
develop curiosity among young minds about space science, YUVIKA Programme has
been initiated by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Gayatri was among
108 students selected from all over India for the fortnight training program.
Two weeks long training programme was fully stuffed with invitees’ talks,
experience sharing by eminent scientists, facility and lab visits, exclusive
sessions for discussion with experts and practical and feedback sessions. An
interactive session was also arranged with ISRO's Chairman Shri K. Shivan in
mid-between. Some of the topics covered were about history of launching
vehicles, different kinds of rockets, propulsions, satellites and their
applications.
During
their visit to ISTRAC, ( Telemetry, Tracking And Common Network) Bengaluru they were lucky enough to watch
launching preparations of Chandrayan-2 which will be launched on 15th
July. All of them undertook one and half day tour at Satish Dhavan Satellite
Centre, Shriharikota to see the satellite launching facilities and other
details where she had a golden opportunity to see launching of sounding rocket.
She
said, “ My selection for the YUVIKA Programme is a great opportunity in my
life. It would be impossible without the support given by Geography teacher
Shri Pramod Bhandare. SSM undertaken activities such Speak Well and Atal Tinkering Lab really
serve their purposes of guiding and mentoring students.”
